Aston Villa and Norwich transfer battle: eight-figure bid accepted

According to reports from BBC Sport, Fulham have accepted a £12million bid for Ross McCormack from Championship rivals Aston Villa.

The Scotland international boasts a phenomenal scoring record in the Championship of 116 goals in 303 appearances, including 21 strikes for the Cottagers last season.

Resultantly, the 29-year-old is the second tier’s hottest commodity and has been linked with all three clubs who were relegated from the Premier League last term.

Norwich City reportedly tabled a £10million bid last week, with an extra £2million in potential add-ons.

But reports of Aston Villa launching a rival offer of £12million first emerged yesterday and according to BBC Sport, the Villains’ bid has now been accepted by Fulham.

Villa’s bid follows Idrissa Gueye’s £7.1million move to Everton, seemingly freeing up funds for manager Roberto Di Matteo to utilise in the transfer market.

Newcastle have also been linked with the former Cardiff and Leeds front man, but are yet to make a formal offer.
