The Birmingham outfit are looking to rebuild after finishing rock bottom of the Premier League last season, but have lost their two opening fixtures of the current campaign.
It appears Roberto Di Matteo is now aiming to bolster his squad with proven top flight quality, launching a successful transfer bid for West Bromwich Albion defender James Chester earlier today.
Last week, journalist Callum Williams claimed on Twitter that the Villains had put in a bid for Crystal Palace enforcer Mile Jedinak.

The Daily Mail have documented Villa’s interest in the Australian international once again, but claim they’re also targeting team-mates Joe Ledley and Jordon Mutch.
Ledley is a regular in the Palace starting Xi and also featured prominently for Wales at Euro 2016, but the London club may be more willing to part with Mutch, who has made just eleven Premier League starts during 18 months at Selhurst Park.
