Aston Villa's John McGinn scored an outrageous volley against Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship last season.

But it hasn't been revealed as one of the ten strikes on the shortlist for this year's Puskas Award, handed to the individual with the best goal, leaving some fans at Villa Park rather miffed.

The 24-year-old opened his claret and blue account in style last September when the Villans hosted the Owls early in their playoff winning campaign.

Wednesday went a goal up thanks to Marco Matias with McGinn equalising with a stunning first-time wonder strike from outside the penalty area after a clearance fell to him - the ball had more curve on it than a corner at Silverstone.

Despite the jaw-dropping nature of the goal, it failed to make FIFA's final ten shortlist.

One supporter claimed the organisation were 'corrupt' whilst another added that it was better than Andros Townsend's effort of a similar nature.

A further Villa fan called it an 'absolute disgrace' but one said he was annoyed but not surprised.
