Aston Villa and Tom Heaton is the transfer rumour that just won't go away this summer.

The pair have been linked all summer as manager Dean Smith tries to improve his current goalkeeping department, with none of his current options having any Premier League experience.

The ongoing saga with the Burnley shot-stopper has left some Villa fans fuming.

Heaton rejected a contract extension from his club earlier in the off-season with just 12 months remaining on his current deal, and could leave the club on a free this time next year.

Football Insider reported last week that Villa had a bid of £4m for the England international rejected with Sean Dyche's side looking for triple that to seal the 33-year-old's signature. It is thought that Burnley want £10m for Heaton, per Alan Nixon.

A number of fans took to Twitter to share their anger after the latest update regarding the experienced Premier League keeper with one member of the fanbase bluntly asking the club to move on from him.

Burnley were labelled greedy by one Villa supporter with many others begging the club to just pay what's required for the much younger Jack Butland - who the Express & Star claimed the club would bid £20m.
