Aston Villa’s first-team squad are currently in Portugal on a pre-season training camp as the club prepares for the 2018-19 Championship campaign.
Villa reached the Championship playoff final last season, but lost to Fulham in a result that had implications both on and off the field.
Villa’s financial problems have been well-documented, but head coach Steve Bruce still has a lot of talent at his disposal, and a number of talented youngsters are expected to be given opportunities in the first team next season.
One of those hoping to play a part is 19-year-old defender Mitchell Clark.
The Wales Under-19 international played 19 Premier League 2 matches for Villa’s Under-23 team last season, and also made his first-team debut in the EFL Cup against Wigan Athletic.
Villa boss Bruce is believed to think a lot of Clark, and that is shown by the fact that he has been taken with the first team to Portugal.
The Villa supporters are also excited about what the future might hold for Clark, with many taking to Twitter to reveal their thoughts on the young defender.
