Aston Villa announced on Monday that goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic had left the club to join Toulouse on loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

The 29-year-old joined Villa from Genk in January 2019 but has only made eight first-team appearances for the English club in all competitions.

Dean Smith's side have had their problems between the sticks this season with Jed Steer and Tom Heaton both picking up injuries, but Kalinic leaves Villa Park having not made a single outing during the current campaign.

Red Herring or Real Hero: Only hardcore Villa fans will get all of them right....

And a lot of the Villa fans decided to poke fun at the 19-time Croatia international in response to their club's exit post.

Others, though, took a more serious view on the exit, with a selection of the supporters disappointed that the move did not work out.

An opening between the sticks presented itself due to the injuries to Steer and Heaton, but Pepe Reina has now arrived on loan from AC Milan to fill the spot.

One fan, meanwhile, claimed that the move will go down as one of the 'weirdest signings' in the club's history when taking everything into consideration.

A number of other Villa supporters have also had their say on a potential incoming at the club before the end of the January transfer window.
