According to The Mirror, Aston Villa are considering the possibility of signing French midfielder Steven Nzonzi during the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Roma and had been due to spend the entire 2019/20 campaign with the Turkish club.

However, The Mirror notes that Nzonzi has been suspended by Galatasaray following a training-ground row, and Villa are interested in bringing him back to England.

Of course, the France international has Premier League experience having turned out for both Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before joining Sevilla in 2015.

And a number of Villa fans are open to a potential switch.

Not all of the Villa supporters share the same view, though, as some are not interested in signing Nzonzi whilst others doubt that their club would be able to get the deal over the line in any case.

As mentioned in the tweets above, the midfielder has not actually played for Galatasaray since the beginning of December, but he has appeared on 15 occasions for his loan side during the current campaign.

Another supporter, meanwhile, questioned why their side would want to sign another midfielder when they have other priorities, in his opinion, during the January transfer window.

Villa supporters have also urged their club not to part with this particular player on a permanent basis this month.
