Earlier this month The Sun reported that Aston Villa were eyeing a move for Bristol City's Adam Webster.

The club then followed that up by submitting a formal bid which Sky Sports News reported on Wednesday had been rejected. The price? An initial £12m.

The fee seems considerably high for a player who has never played in the Premier League and Villa fans seemed to hold similar sentiments, reacting on Twitter to the news.

One fan chose to say that it felt impossible to sign anyone right now whilst another claimed the defender wasn't worth half as much as the reported price Villa threw at the player.

A further supporter suggested that the club shouldn't bid any more money than they already have. One individual urged the club to get Tyrone Mings instead.

After having a bid previously rejected for Neil Etheridge, this represents another setback for the Villans who are working on fees for both him and Mings.

Bristol Live have previously reported that Bristol City have set their asking price at £30m for Webster.

Here's the best of the reaction.
