Lots of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to pinpoint the centre-back pairing of Tyrone Mings and Bjorn Engels as an eye-catching factor of their return to the Premier League, despite it ending with a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham.

The Villans took an early lead through John McGinn's well taken effort, and were in front for 73 minutes of the game before Tanguy Ndombele evened things up - Harry Kane's late double made the game look flattering in Tottenham's favour.

A big part of Villa's ability to keep Spurs out for a large portion of the match was the hard work of Tyrone Mings and Bjorn Engels at the back, both of whom were signed in the summer - Mings' loan deal from Bournemouth was made permanent for £20m, whilst Engels signed from Reims for £9m.

Together, they blocked seven shots and made a whopping 21 clearances on a day where they were unfortunate to be on the losing side, but their evidently strong partnership has got the Villa fans on Twitter talking excitedly about what's to come.
