Heaton will add much needed Premier League experience to Dean Smith’s goalkeeping department with none of his current options ever featuring in the English top-flight.
The 33-year-old has made 96 appearances in the Premier League, keeping 25 clean sheets, all of which for Burnley whom he joined back in 2013 on a free transfer from Bristol City.
He could become Villa’s 11th signing this summer after the club were promoted from the Championship by defeating Derby County in the play-off final.
Many of the Villa Park faithful took to Twitter to share their delight at the news with one supporter calling the move an absolute masterstroke. Another echoed similar sentiments claiming it was as solid a signing as they could have made listing off Heaton’s experience and leadership qualities.
Other fans said they loved the signing as the Clarets number one was a proven, top-quality goalkeeper with two or three years still at the top of his game.

Super signing experience and stability people saying we might only get three years ???? if we are established in the prem in three I won’t care

Im happy with this. Right decision for #avfc. At the end of day, if we stay up this year and heaton contributes points to that total, with his performances. He would of been worth every penny. #utv

Good keeper will do us nicely for 2-3 seasons

Best GK signing we could have made IMO. Experienced ✔️ leadership ✔️ quality ✔️ in his prime ✔️ fairly cheap ✔️ significant upgrade on what we have ✔️
As solid a signing as we could have made really. #avfc

Much happier with Heaton than Butland who wasn’t even the best Championship keeper last year.
Heaton has always been a very good solid keeper. This is a great signing if it happens.

Quality keeper. He’ll do us for the next few years while we establish ourselves in the Premier League. Happy days. ????????????
