Aston Villa's hunt for a new goalkeeper looks to finally be about to end after the club agreed an £8m deal for Burnley shot-stopper Tom Heaton - which has appeared to please a number of fans in the West Midlands.

Heaton will add much needed Premier League experience to Dean Smith's goalkeeping department with none of his current options ever featuring in the English top-flight.

The 33-year-old has made 96 appearances in the Premier League, keeping 25 clean sheets, all of which for Burnley whom he joined back in 2013 on a free transfer from Bristol City.

He could become Villa's 11th signing this summer after the club were promoted from the Championship by defeating Derby County in the play-off final.

Many of the Villa Park faithful took to Twitter to share their delight at the news with one supporter calling the move an absolute masterstroke. Another echoed similar sentiments claiming it was as solid a signing as they could have made listing off Heaton's experience and leadership qualities.

Other fans said they loved the signing as the Clarets number one was a proven, top-quality goalkeeper with two or three years still at the top of his game.
