On Monday morning, Aston Villa’s official Twitter account attempted to hype up the supporters ahead of this weekend’s EFL Cup final.
However, it did not really work for the most part.
Indeed, in response to the social media post, a number of Villa fans suggested that they were dreading taking on the holders of the competition.
Manchester City have not exactly been at their free-flowing best this season, but Villa will enter Sunday’s affair off the back of three straight Premier League defeats, the latest of which came at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
God help us

We had our cup final on Saturday and the players blew it, nobody’s motivated right now.

One supporter claimed that he would not mind losing on Sunday providing that the club’s players put up a good fight on the afternoon.
Dont care if we lose as long as the lads put the effort in

Another fan, meanwhile, fancied his side to triumph 1-0 but would need them to seriously ride their luck with some incredible statistics.
We’re winning 1-0 after facing 65 shots and having 10% possession

While the EFL Cup final is undoubtedly a huge occasion for Villa with silverware up for grabs, some may feel that the club have bigger fish to fry in the league.
Indeed, Dean Smith’s side will be looking to bounce back from three straight losses when they travel to Leicester City on March 9, before continuing their top-flight campaign with a home clash against Chelsea in the middle of the month.
