According to the Express & Star, Aston Villa will turn to super-agent Jorge Mendes to help with their recruitment this summer.

Mendes, who has played a key role in Wolverhampton Wanderers' spending, is believed to have been drafted in by Villa's new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.

It is believed that the Portuguese is working on a number of deals, although head coach Steve Bruce will still have the final say on which players join the club.

Mendes has a number of famous clients, and amongst the players on his books is Watford centre-forward Andre Gray.

Gray joined Watford from Burnley last summer, and scored five Premier League goals for the Hornets during the 2017-18 campaign.

The 27-year-old was not always in the starting XI, however, and some Villa supporters feel that their club could be on the verge of bringing the Englishman to Villa Park.
