One of Aston Villa’s stars has been rewarded for his sublime form in 2019.

England manager Gareth Southgate has selected Tyrone Mings for their upcoming European 2020 Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

The 6 foot 5 powerhouse was a catalyst in turning Villa’s fortunes around last season, having joined on loan in January, the club soon went on a run of ten straight victories which led the club into the playoffs.

Southgate spoke about Mings’ call-up on Thursday afternoon, he said:

“Tyrone’s an interesting case as he entered the game a bit later and hasn’t played as much as a centre-back.

“I really like his leadership qualities. He’s an outstanding athlete."

The 26-year-old has since taken to Twitter to share his delight at the news.

Several of the Villa Park fanbase replied praising their popular centre-back.

One supporter said he would one day be the England captain whilst another added that it was fully deserved as he had been an 'unreal professional' since joining the club.

A further member of the Villa faithful claimed the defender had been nothing short of exceptional with one more telling him to go and prove his doubters wrong.
