According to The Mirror, experienced midfielder Dean Marney is currently training with Aston Villa following his release from Burnley at the end of last season.
Marney played 221 times for Burnley between 2010 and 2018, but did not make a single appearance last season due to a serious knee problem.
It had been thought that the 34-year-old could hang up his boots this summer, but Marney is believed to be training with Villa ahead of a potential move to Villa Park.
Villa’s financial problems means that head coach Steve Bruce will need to look for free agents and loan arrivals this summer.
However, it would be fair to say that the Villa supporters are not overly pleased with the thought of Marney lining up in the middle of their midfield.
When fit, Marney is a very good midfielder capable of performing at Championship level, but the Villa fans are simply not interested in a deal.
