It has been a turbulent season for Aston Villa so far as they have won just three of their 12 Championship games and had to experience a managerial shift.

After throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Preston North End on October 2, Steve Bruce was sacked from his position.

This week, the Midlands outfit hired Dean Smith from Brentford and recruited John Terry as the club's new assistant manager.

Before all the major changes, Bruce was tasked with bringing in new players during the summer transfer window, which was made trickier following the club's financial woes.

In the end, Villa brought in seven new faces, and over the past month we have been asking you who their best signing was, and the results are in.

Below is a list of the fans' top three captures...

3. Anwar El Ghazi

The 23-year-old signed from Lille on a season-long loan and he arrived on the back of 44 appearances for the French club.

In that time the winger scored six goals and registered four assists, and his arrival at Villa was met with excitement.

It took time for El Ghazi to find his rhythm given that the season was already four Championship games in by the time he arrived, but he impressed in games against Reading and Sheffield United as he created an assist and scored respectively.

Since then, El Ghazi has been in and out of the team, so it will be interesting to see where or even if he figures in Smith's plans.

2. Tammy Abraham

A handful of lower-league clubs were interested in Abraham during the summer window, and it is easy to see why.

The Chelsea striker has shown plenty of talent at just 21 years of age, and since moving to Villa on loan, he has played in six league matches, scoring three goals.

Abraham signed a month into the season and since the club's 4-1 defeat to Sheffield United, the striker has featured in every Championship match.

The results have not been ideal for Villa, but the Chelsea loanee has scored in his last two league outings.

1. John McGinn

The 23-year-old Scotland international was heavily linked with a move to Celtic in the summer, but he opted to join Villa from Hibernian in a deal for just under £3m.

McGinn joined after the opening league game of the campaign and since signing on the dotted line he has appeared in every match.

The midfielder has contributed with three assists and scored arguably the goal of the season so far in the form of a stunning volley against Sheffield Wednesday.

McGinn has been a mainstay in the starting XI, but whether he will keep his place under Smith remains to be seen.
