Aston Villa are facing the prospect of being without James Chester for this weekend's Championship clash with bitter rivals Birmingham City.

Chester was formed an impressive centre-back partnership with Axel Tuanzebe in recent weeks, and their presence at the back would have left the Villa fans feeling confident entering the clash with Birmingham.

According to Birmingham Live, the extent of Chester's injury is unknown, but he was replaced just 50 minutes into Wales' UEFA Nations League clash with Denmark on Friday night.

The former Manchester United youngster was then not involved in Wales' friendly against Albania on Tuesday night, having returned to his club for treatment.

Chester's absence could see Mile Jedinak thrust into action in central defence, although one Villa fan asked if the club could recall Tommy Elphick, who is currently on loan at Hull City.
