Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to call on Dean Smith to move Jack Grealish back into the centre of the pitch, following the embarrassing 3-1 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

The Villans were humbled by their fellow relegation rivals in their own back yard as two goals from Danny Ings and a header from Jack Stephens gave Ralph Hasenhuttl's men a commanding stranglehold on the game, before a wonder-strike from Grealish at least got Villa on the scoresheet.

Smith has been playing the Villa academy graduate on the left wing for the majority of the current campaign, with Grealish making ten appearances out wide this term while also appearing six times in the centre of the field.

Across all competitions this term, the 24-year-old has recorded a quite impressive seven goals and four assists, with the majority of those goal involvements coming from the left flank - he has been involved in just two goals from the middle of the pitch.

Despite that, it appears that these Villa fans on Twitter think Grealish operates best in the centre, and have called on Smith to move the No.10 back to that position and end the left-wing experiment.

One fan expressed their frustration at Smith's use of Grealish by saying "how many times have I gotta say it" when demanding that the attacking midfielder be returned to the middle of the pitch.

Another supporter echoed that sentiment and said that Smith must stop the "Grealish LW experiment".

These two fans continued the theme by also calling for Grealish to be moved centrally.

One fan called Rich said that the Villa captain "goes missing way too often" when played out on the left, while a supporter named Dominic said that it is "imperative" that Grealish comes back into the middle of the park - bold words indeed.

Lastly, these two fans joined the aforementioned four supporters in pushing Smith to move Grealish back into the middle, simply making their point be heard with not much added information - short and sweet was the flavour of the day from this pair.
