Aston Villa have been linked with numerous goalkeepers so far in the transfer window with Neil Etheridge, Jack Butland and Tom Heaton all attracting their interest.

Play-off hero Jed Steer signed a new contract recently but that doesn't appear to have put Villa's pursuit of a new stopper on hold. The latest name to catch their eye is Stade de Reims man Edouard Mendy, according to French outlet L'Equipe.

However, upon seeing the news, Villa supporters took to Twitter to reveal their displeasure at the report.

One fan begged the club not to sign another foreign goalkeeper after the signings of Orjan Nyland and Lovre Kalinic last season, whilst another urged them to pay the money required to sign Butland.

A further supporter claimed he didn't see Mendy as a big enough improvement to invest in, and one individual even called the 27-year-old total garbage.

The Senegalese 'keeper is currently in action at the Africa Cup of Nations and made 38 appearances in Ligue 1 last term.

In those matches, he helped his side keep 14 clean sheets as Reims ended the campaign in eighth place.

Here's the best of the reaction.
