It was a difficult day at the office for Aston Villa against Leicester City on Sunday.

The Villans were well outplayed by Brendan Rodgers' side, losing 4-1. Jamie Vardy picked up a brace, whilst Kelechi Iheanacho and Jonny Evans bagged the other goals. Jack Grealish's deflected strike was the only response the home side could muster up.

It is the latest poor result in a disappointing run of form for the Midlands outfit. They have now won just one in their last seven games, and currently lie 17th in the table. Dean Smith is probably beginning to feel the pressure a little.

On Twitter after the match, the supporters made it known that they are worried by the capabilities of the 48-year-old.

It certainly wasn't a very good display from Villa, but the fans must not forget that this is the man that got them promoted to the Premier League. Whilst it may not be going all their own way, they have played the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City in the last few weeks.

Today, it was his use of one man in particular that angered the Villa faithful.

The frustration with the 23-year-old is understandable. For a club-record fee of £22m, they will have expected more than the four goals he has contributed in the Premier League so far. Against the Foxes, he picked up a SofaScore rating of 6.9, which although not absolutely terrible, is not really good enough.

Smith's lack of versatility has also infuriated some fans.

It is true that Smith has used just two systems so far this campaign - 4-3-3 and 4-1-4-1 - and they are set-ups that aren't too dissimilar.

Red Herring or Real Hero: Only hardcore Villa fans will get all of them right....

If Villa are to stay up, that will need to change, and it remains to be seen whether Smith is the man to lead them to survival.
