According to The Sun, Aston Villa are interested in signing Wigan Athletic midfielder Nick Powell in this summer's transfer window.

Powell, who could reportedly be available for £5m, scored 15 League One goals for Wigan during the 2017-18 campaign.

The 24-year-old also registered seven assists last term, and has been linked with a move away from Wigan over the last few months.

Powell famously joined Manchester United from Crewe Alexandra in 2012, but the 6ft ace only made nine first-team appearances for the Red Devils before moving on.

Villa's financial problems have been eased in recent weeks, and head coach Steve Bruce is said to be keen to show the club's new owners that he is capable of signing in-demand stars this summer.

The Villa fans have been reacting to the Powell news on social media, and it would be fair to say that they have differing views.
