According to Tuttosport, Serie A newcomers Parma are interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason during this summer's transfer window.

The 30-year-old joined Villa from FC Basel in January 2017, and he has scored four times and registered three assists in 37 appearances for his English club in all competitions.

Last term, Bjarnason scored three times in 23 Championship appearances as Steve Bruce's side reached the final of the playoffs before losing to Fulham.

The midfielder is currently with Iceland at the 2018 World Cup, and was a part of the team that held Argentina to a shock 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.

Parma are being linked with a move for Bjarnason, who is valued at £1.8m by transfermarkt.co.uk, ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Villa supporters have been reacting to the transfer speculation, and it would be fair to say that they are struggling to agree on whether he should be sold.

Indeed, many think that cash-strapped Villa should sell, but there are also plenty who want to keep him ahead of the new campaign.
