According to The Daily Mail Aston Villa are set to risk upsetting their fans by appointing former Birmingham City manager and player Steve Bruce as their new boss.
It’s been tough for Villa so far in the Championship. The club have struggled to adapt to their new level after a woeful Premier League season and Roberto Di Matteo could not turn things around following his appointment at the start of the season.
The Italian left the Midlands club flirting with relegation again and it appears as though Bruce is seen as the one to save them.
The former Hull manager left the Tigers at the start of the campaign and knows exactly how to get teams up from the Championship – something Villa fans are craving – but his Birmingham ties look set to annoy some fans, though.
Truth be known, the fanbase on Twitter seems quite split over his potential unveiling. Some don’t care about his past, given his track record, yet others simply cannot forget it, here are some of the best reactions…

Please not Steve Bruce, this is McLeish all over again, he will even get the blame if the half time pies are cold, crossover does not work

Would take Steve Bruce at Villa easy. Won 4 promotions on fairly small budgets compared to ours now. Who cares he used to be the Blues boss.

wouldn't mind us appointing Steve Bruce tbh if he can get the confidence back in our side & us winning games we will be right up there #AVFC

Villa are desperate for a safe pair of hands manager- wise. Some #avfc fans need to take off anti-blues hat and give Steve Bruce a chance
