According to The Mirror, Aston Villa are in a battle with Wolves and Bournemouth to sign Leeds' Kalvin Phillips this summer, although the former will go after Stoke's Ryan Woods if they fail to land him.

The Villans have reportedly offered £11m for Phillips' services, although The Sun have previously suggested that Leeds are looking for £30m for the midfield man.

As a result, it could be quite likely that the Midlands outfit pursue Woods instead.

But reacting to the news that their club saw him as an alternative on Twitter, a host of fans weren't best pleased.

Two supporters claimed they'd rather have Phillips whilst another fan made reference to the fact they'd have liked him if they didn't go up.

Another individual called Woods a step-down and a further supporter simply claimed he wasn't good enough. One tweeter said they may as well play Henri Lansbury.

Woods only moved to Stoke from Brentford last term, playing 26 times in the Championship, failing to register a single goal contribution.

The 25-year-old struggled significantly for game time after the New Year period, playing just seven times after the turn of the year.

Here's the best of the reaction.
