Stoke City are believed to lead the race for Aston Villa centre-back James Chester.
The 29-year-old was again in outstanding form for Villa last term, but the club’s financial problems could mean that he is sold in this summer’s transfer window.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Stoke are prepared to pay £7m to sign the Wales international ahead of the 2018-19 Championship campaign.
The Villa fans have been reacting to the speculation, and it would be fair to say that they are not interested in a deal at that price.
There is a general acceptance that Chester is likely to move on this summer, but the Villa supporters feel that at least £10m is a fair price for the former Manchester United youngster.
Villa are not exactly in the best of positions to negotiate at the moment, but they have every right to hold out for the best possible deal.
A selection of the reaction from the Villa fans on social media can be seen below:
He cost us 8 million & he’s definitely improved as a player. The price should reflect that

NO JUST NO! At least £10m or nothing I’m sorry but villa can’t even consider the £7m bid! Sick and tired of seeing our player being sold for next to nothing!

We lose Chester and we have no hope next season. From what I hear Bruce has told Xia he’s the one player that he doesn’t want to let go of for very obvious reasons.

Should set the price at 15 million scare teams off ! And the worrying part we end up like Leeds did selling players and still be broke .
