Heaton has signed for a reported £8m and will add a wealth of experience to their goalkeeping department at the age of 33.
However, in the build-up to the deal being completed, Villa fans were discussing which goalkeeper should leave as a result with the consensus being that Lovre Kalinic was the man who should head elsewhere.
Two fans claimed that he was worth the most and should be shipped out as one stated that because he was Croatia’s national ‘keeper, he wouldn’t want to be a back-up.
A further supporter claimed Kalinic was still good but as a result of the Burnley man joining, he should be loaned out. Another individual hinted that the Croat should be the one to go as he hadn’t worked out.
Jed Steer’s form towards the back end of last season, coupled with the fact Heaton has arrived means he could well be third choice under Dean Smith.
Here’s the best of the debate.
Kalinic is the starting keeper for Croatia. He won’t want to be a back up and is worth the most.
Steer is playing with house money really by being the second choice at Villa given he was on loan at Charlton last year and Nyland is coming of an injury.

Kalanic is a #1 international goalkeeper, he won’t settle for being 3rd choice. He needs game time to stay in the Croatian Squad

Kalinic worth more

I think Kalanic and Nyland are both good keepers given a run in the team, therefore I think a loan out for either would be a good option

Loan either Steer or Nyland with the other being No2, & sell Kalinic

Nyland can improve, and Steer is solid backup
Kalinic hasn’t worked out

Picked Nyland but I’d get rid of Kalinglitch as well. Steer would be a safe backup
