Aston Villa fans were delighted by James Chester’s performance on Tuesday night

Aston Villa maintained their automatic promotion push on Tuesday night with an important win away to relegation battlers Sunderland in the English Championship.

Four points behind second-placed Cardiff City, with 11 games remaining, the Villans know that three points are a must every time they take to the pitch right now.

They didn’t disappoint on Tuesday night with Lewis Grabban, James Chester and Bryan Oviedo own goal supplying the 3-0 win at the Stadium of Light.

It was a fairly routine win for Steve Bruce’s men, who know greater challenges are to come over the next few weeks, starting with a mammoth clash against league leaders Wolves this weekend.

Fans were delighted with the win and had particular praise for goalscoring defender Chester.

They believe he is one of their best signings in recent years and, beyond his scoring turn last night, is providing the platform for their more attacking players to secure wins.

Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the 29-year-old’s performance…
