Aston Villa fans worried after Said Benrahma transfer update

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith revealed in his first Premier League press conference of the season that their summer business was finished claiming he is happy with his current squad…

The news means that Said Benrahma won’t be moving to the West Midlands from Brentford this summer, something which was previously hinted at by Gregg Evans.

It’s news which has left a number of fans worried going into their opening game against Tottenham this weekend.

Villa have splashed the cash this summer with 12 new arrivals, which surpassed the £130m figure for total spending.

The club have been linked with options in attack ever since their final signing, midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, was confirmed with reports touting them with moves for Neal Maupay – who joined Brighton, his Brentford teammate Benrahma as well as Jean-Kevin Augustin and Mbaye Diagne.

A number of fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts…

One fan said he was starting to panic that they will be short on options on the wings and up front, claiming that even one winger or striker would have rounded off a great window.

Others labelled back up strikers Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davis as ‘bang average’ whilst one member of the Villa Park crowd believed that they would be relegated at the first time of asking as a result.
