According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are keen on signing Brentford left-back Rico Henry in this January transfer window.
Rico has impressed for the Bees when he has played this season, and it is unsurprising that other clubs are interested in signing the 21-year-old in this window as the full-back possesses huge potential.
The Villans desperately need to bolster their defensive contingent, and Henry would represent a smart addition if the Midlands outfit can get a deal over the line this month.

New Villa boss Dean Smith knows all about Henry, having worked with him whilst in charge of both Walsall and Brentford. The left-back is clearly a favourite of Smith’s, who he would be keen to reunite with at Villa Park.
Smith isn’t the only one set to benefit from Henry’s arrival either. The young defender’s influence could actually effect the way Villa play too.
As things stand, Villa lack a particularly creative, aggressive and attack-minded left-back. The likes of Neil Taylor and Alan Hutton lack the pace and invention required to regularly trouble the opposition rearguard. Henry, however, is a far more modern, forward-thinking full-back.
Henry’s introduction to the team would be a massive boost for Yannick Bolasie. The left-winger has struggled to find his best form since his loan switch from Everton in the summer. His struggles are partly due to the fact he doesn’t have an advancing full-back to combine with on the left flank, leaving him with far too much to do alone.
Henry could be a partner in crime for Bolasie on the wing, meaning the Villa faithful may finally start seeing the best of the 29-year-old.
