According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa are pushing hard to sign Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham on loan before the end of the month.

What's the story?

The future of Abraham has been a major talking point this summer, with the 20-year-old linked with a number of clubs over the last few weeks.

A number of Championship teams are said to be interested in the centre-forward, and according to The Telegraph, Villa are doing their best to secure a deal.

However, the same report claims that Abraham is yet to be convinced that dropping down to the Championship at this stage of his career represents his best move.

The England international signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea last summer before joining Swansea City on loan for the 2017-18 campaign.

Abraham is now back with his parent club, but is not believed to be in the plans of Blues boss Maurizio Sarri, and will surely move on before the end of the month.

Would Abraham be a good signing for Villa?

In short, yes. Abraham is highly rated at Chelsea, but the fact of the matter is that he would struggle for first-team football if he remained at Stamford Bridge this season.

A number of European clubs have also been credited with an interest, but according to The Telegraph, Abraham is keen to stay in the English game.

Abraham scored five Premier League goals during a mixed spell at Swansea, but has shown that he is a serious force in the Championship - netting 23 league goals for Bristol City during the 2016-17 season.

Standing at 6ft 3in and boasting a frightening turn of speed, Abraham's arrival at Villa Park would be a huge boost to the club, and there is no question that it would make them one of the favourites to secure a return to the Premier League.

Villa will seemingly have to wait when it comes to Abraham's future, but Steve Bruce's side must fight to sign the powerhouse before the end of August.
