Paul Robinson has claimed that Wesley's goal drought for Aston Villa could become a burden moving forward, as reported by Football Insider.

What did he say?

Wesley has now gone eight Premier League games without recording a single goal or assist, with three of his five goal contributions this campaign coming against Norwich City.

There wasn't the indication that the Brazilian could get his name back on the scoresheet against Leicester City over the weekend, as he only let off one shot, eventually seeing it go off target.

Paul Robinson has suggested that the striker's drought can be of concern for the player and club, as reported by Football Insider:

“Yeah he’s not in the best run of goalscoring form, he’s only scored four this year.

"For a team like Villa, they need a goalscorer and I’m not convinced Wesley is the one at the moment.

“It’s clear he can get the goals, but the longer he goes without, it’s going to become a burden.”

He was at Club Brugge last year, and scored 17 goals in total and that’s not a bad record, but to expect him to come in and instantly score the goals needed to keep you in the Premier League was always a big ask, but the likes of Grealish and Trezeguet will help him.

Concerning signs

It is definitely of concern to Villa that their striker has gone such a long period of time without getting in and amongst the goals, as they look to maintain their Premier League status.

One thing that Robinson has picked up on is that this has meant greater help has been needed from his teammates, with Grealish and Trezeguet becoming especially important.

Red Herring or Real Hero: Only hardcore Villa fans will get all of them right....

The captain currently has four goals and four assists in the league, while Trezeguet has scored in each of his last three starts.

Wesley's inability to make an impact in front of goal puts more pressure on players such as these to make up the numbers, so it could be disastrous for Villa if their goals dry up as well.

In other news, Aston Villa fans have criticised Dean Smith following their loss against Leicester.
