Aston Villa teenager Andre Green has revealed that he is just 'a couple of weeks away' from returning to action following a long spell on the sidelines.

The 19-year-old, who has recently signed a new two-year contract at Villa Park, has not turned out for the Championship club since picking up a hamstring problem in the early stages of 2018.

Green, who is valued at £900k by transfermarkt.co.uk, has scored twice in eight appearances for Villa this season - including once in five Championship outings for the promotion hopefuls.

It has been a frustrating few months for the teenager, but he has revealed that he is just two weeks away from returning to the field.

Green told the Birmingham Mail:

“Hopefully I’ll play a game (behind closed doors) in the international break and then I can kick on from that. I’m just a couple of weeks away now.

"In two or three weeks I want to be back in the team again and available for selection. That’s my goal.”

Green, who began his Villa career as a trainee in 2014, has made 26 first-team appearances for his current club.

Steve Bruce's side have lost their last two Championship matches, but are still comfortably inside the playoffs, and will look to return to winning ways away to Hull City on March 31.

The Villa supporters have recently expressed their desire for Green to return to action.
