In an exclusive reported by The Irish Sun, Aston Villa are set to move for Norwich City's Irish international Robbie Brady in the coming January transfer window.
What's the word?
It's a move that would certainly shake-up the Championship promotion race with the Villans and the Canaries separated by just 2 points in the table, both of them eyeing a play-off spot come the end of the campaign.
The Irish Sun report that Steve Bruce would be willing to pay up to £10m to take Brady to Villa Park and also offer him an incredible £50,000 per week deal, which would make him one of the highest paid players in the league.
They reckon Bruce's boss Dr. Tony Xia is set to back the manager heavily in the upcoming window and the figures linked to Brady would certainly confirm that.
Worth the money?
Robbie Brady has been one of Norwich City's best players this season, consistently performing in whatever role Alex Neil decides to utilise him in.
The versatile midfielder has played in four positions this season, utilised on the left side in both a defensive and attacking role while also helping out through the middle and ever on the right wing too. He's contributed two goals and two assists the campaign so far.
Bringing him to Birmingham would not only be a boost to Aston Villa's midfield, but a massive loss to Alex Neil.
That double whammy could be enough to tempt Steve Bruce, who needs every edge he can get if Aston Villa are to return to the English Premier League this season.
