The Belgian striker has been the Villains’ star performer this term, notching an impressive 19 goals for the struggling Midlanders.
This form has alerted a number of potential suitors, with Manchester City and Tottenham believed to be keen to lure Benteke away from Villa Park, despite him having only arrived last summer.
Paul Lambert is desperate to keep his star man, and reports had emerged that the club were willing to double his salary to push through a deal.
But, with the threat of relegation still very much alive, Villa’s hierarchy are keen to wait and see which division they will be in next season.
Benteke earns £20,000-per-week with his current contract, the sort of figure the likes of City and Spurs could easily treble.
But, the 22-year-old has previously stated that he is happy to stay put, so long as he is playing top-flight football.
Villa are currently two points clear of the bottom three and occupy 16th spot, thanks to their weekend win over Stoke.
However, their position could quite easily change, with fellow strugglers Wigan having a game in hand.
