Aston Villa remain active in the transfer market as Dean Smith looks to get his squad ready for the upcoming Premier League season. Today's Villa transfer roundup includes updates in the pursuit of a Championship goalkeeper, a 28-goal striker and a Zimbabwe international.

Butland price lowered

According to the Mirror, Aston Villa have driven the price down for Stoke City's Jack Butland. They were reportedly originally quoted £27m, but that has been reduced to £23m, and Villa now believe that they can get it even lower.

Maupay deal unlikely

The Mirror is also reporting that Villa are now unlikely to sign Brentford's Neal Maupay. Smith has already signed Wesley but would still like to add another striker this summer. However, Brentford have put a big price-tag on the Frenchman.

Nakamba quiet on future
