Aston Villa will turn down record bids to keep striker

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke

Aston Villa chairman Randy Lerner is set to resist the temptation of some serious money in order to keep hold of star striker Christian Benteke this summer, according to The Sun.

The 22-year-old striker handed the Midlands club a huge boost towards Premier League safety after netting a hat trick against fellow relegation threatened Sunderland on Monday night.

A number of high profile clubs are set to tempt the Belgian striker away from Villa Park this summer but Lerner is set to turn every single bid down, no matter what the price.

Rumours of a £30million price tag hovering over the goal machine have surfaced and the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal are sure to be put off by a figure like that.

Villa have a recent history of selling their best players with the likes of Stewart Downing, James Milner, Ashely Young and Gareth Barry all leaving the club at the first opportunity.
