For any Chelsea or Aston Villa fan, or follower of John Terry on Instagram for that matter, who has seen Dennis Dugan’s Happy Gilmore, you’d be forgiven for assuming the 38-year-old’s choice of attire on Sunday was inspired the night before by an Adam Sandler marathon.

For those of you who do not subscribe to any of the above categories and have just blindly stumbled upon this revelation, however, know this: Terry has copied the outfit of a fictional, one-handed, alligator-killing, eye collecting, former golf professional by the name of Chubbs Peterson.

Fortunately the Villa assistant is capable of making self-deprecating jokes without blowing up in a shower of vain sludge, like we imagine some stars would if we dared insult them, and he’s taken to Instagram to share the fun with his 4.7 million followers.
