Troy Deeney's joy was clear to see, as he mocked Aston Villa fans after heading home to put Watford 1-0 up in the 38th minute of their six-pointer.

However, it wasn't the Hornets captain who ended up having the final laugh, as Douglas Luiz equalised, before Ezri Konsa's 94th-minute strike went in off Tyrone Mings, securing all three points for Villa.

Once the celebrations had calmed down, as well as being over the moon about the vital three points, Villa fans felt a clear feeling of schadenfreude towards Deeney.

One fan sent a message saying "looks like that hurt" to the 31-year-old, who grew up as a Birmingham City supporter.

In fairness, Deeney definitely didn't help himself with the nature of his celebration when his header hit the back of the net, having done something similar when he scored his opener in the previous game between the two sides.

They also took pleasure in making reference to their own striker, asking "what's Samatta", after their acquisition of the 27-year-old Tanzania international.

The final whistle blew just seconds after Konsa had finished his celebrations following the strike that secured the win.

While that definitely seemed to add to the thrill attached to the moment for Villa's fans, players and staff, it meant they didn't get much time to mock Deeney from the stands.

They made up for that on Twitter though, with there being one clear chant of choice.

Meanwhile, Villa fans reacted to one of the club's loan departures.
