Aston Villa fans show their sarcastic side after Anwar El Ghazi’s penalty

Anwar El Ghazi was the man who stepped up, and he fired the ball past Ederson, despite the Brazilian correctly guessing which way he would go.

Even the Dutchman didn’t look enthused at all as he trudged back towards his own half, having converted the spot-kick.

It didn’t do much for Villa fans either, though some of them did see the funny side of it all, using sarcasm as a coping mechanism.

How many goals were scored during the 2010/11 Premier League season?

One fan suggested a game of “last goal wins”, while another insisted they were “gonna win 7-6”.

Some fans took that sarcasm to the season in general, rather than the confines of this one game, with one saying “announce Premier League football next year”, while another reckons they’ll be going for the title.

This comes with Villa now having entered the relegation zone, after Watford beat AFC Bournemouth earlier on in the day.

Do you think Villa will stay up this season?

Meanwhile, Alan Hutton has got behind one proposed Aston Villa transfer move.
