Aston Villa’s local hero Gary Gardner is aiming to retain his spot in Steve Bruce’s side for the long-term, having waited patiently to earn his chance at Villa Park.
Villa are currently unbeaten in their four matches under Bruce and will be looking to end this weekend on a high with a positive result against a struggling Blackburn Rovers side.
Gardner, who scored in last weekend’s 1-1 derby draw with Birmingham City, has developed into a key-part of Villa’s side and he’s aiming to remain in his role for the long-term.

Gardner’s desire and fight will certainly come in handy as the club aim to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, after a disastrous campaign in the top-flight last season ended in relegation, but they will have work hard to close the gap on their rivals.
Villa, after a slow start to the season, are six points off the play-off spots and have a varied run of matches coming up, as they face struggling Blackburn this weekend and Cardiff City at the end of the month, with a fixture against promotion rivals Brighton wedged in between.
