Mikel Arteta suggested that Arsenal need to work on maintaining their concentration, as reported by the club's official channels.

What did he say?

The Gunners manager will have been left frustrated, as his side allowed Crystal Palace back into the game after going 1-0 up, consequentially surrendering the victory.

This meant that he was unable to fully build on the 2-0 victory that was secured against Manchester United in their most recent Premier League game.

When asked about maintaining focus after the final whistle, Arteta said: "At this level in the Premier League, if you switch off for two seconds, five seconds, you will concede a goal straight away. I'm going to have to find a way to try to avoid those situations. It happened today and it cost us two points."

A costly lapse

The defending for the goal was calamitous. First of all, nobody got close enough to Max Meyer when the ball was played out wide to him from the free-kick.

After that, David Luiz made a half-hearted attempt to prevent Cheikhou Kouyate getting the ball on the edge of the box.

Then, when the Senegalese midfielder had popped the ball off to Jordan Ayew, no man in yellow shut him down quick enough, with his eventual shot going in off Luiz's leg.

It is fair to suggest that Arsenal's concentration went during this period, while there was also a severe lack of organisation.

This shows that despite the aesthetically pleasing nature of Arsenal's goal, there is still plenty of work for Arteta to do with his team if he is to lead them to glory.

The challenge now is to ensure that the Gunners are maintaining their concentration on a regular basis.
