Rather bizarrely it appears as though finding a new goalkeeper this summer is a priority for Aston Villa.

Only last week the club had a bid for Cardiff stopper Neil Etheridge knocked back, but now journalist Alan Nixon has claimed that the Villans are looking abroad for a 'keeper.

After the form Jed Steer showed towards the back end of the season it's rather strange that the Midlands club are looking at a new number one, especially after signing Lovre Kalinic and Orjan Nyland last summer.

With that in mind, a host of Villa fans were concerned with the transfer update, issuing their frustration on Twitter.

One fan simply asked whether the club have actually learnt from their past mistakes. Another raised concerns with the quality of the foreign goalkeepers they've signed in the past.

A further supporter decided to focus on Steer, claiming it would be harsh on the play-off final if he wasn't given a chance in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old was a huge influence after returning from a loan spell with Charlton over the winter, ending up the star of the penalty shoot-out in Villa's play-off semi-final with West Brom.

Here's the best of the debate from the Villa Park faithful.
