Aston Villa supporters may have just been dealt their biggest setback yet in their hopes of landing Tyrone Mings on a permanent deal.

The Sun claim that Villa are refusing to overpay for the 6 ft 5 defender as they eye up a move for Adam Webster.

Mings is rated at £4.5m per Transfermarkt but it's likely a larger bid will have to be submitted in order to lure him away from Bournemouth. Danny Mills claimed last month that they may have to pay over £10m more than that.

Taking to Twitter after seeing the news, a host of Villa fans demanded that the club pay what's required to bring him back to the club.

One supporter claimed that now was not the time to tighten the purse strings whilst another suggested discussions could go on until the final day of the window.

A further fan said that Mings would be worth every penny whilst one tweet said they wanted him back where he belongs.
