Aston Villa goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic could be sent out on loan during the January transfer window, as reported by The Daily Mail.

It is suggested that Toulouse and Genk are two clubs that the 29-year-old could end up temporarily joining.

This follows the loan signing of Pepe Reina from AC Milan, who made an impressive save against Brighton & Hove Albion to secure a point on his debut.

Kalinic has been severely underwhelming since signing for Villa from Gent, making eight first-team appearances for the club, all of which came last season.

It is a pretty damning indictment of his performances that he conceded 15 goals during that limited amount of time.

The Croatian has not played at all since being taken off 45 minutes into a 2-0 loss against West Bromwich Albion in February 2019, so fans are pretty happy to see him go.

However, there is also a sense of frustration about the fact that he was signed in the first place, seeing the 29-year-old as a "huge waste of money".

It has also been added that one fan thinks he will eventually leave for free, because they "can't see anyone wanting to pay for him".

Considering that when they are fit, Tom Heaton, Pepe Reina, Orjan Nyland and Jed Steer are all ahead of the Croatia international in the pecking order, it is hard to argue with that stance.
