Kilmarnock set to bring Aaron Tshibola back from Aston Villa

Aston Villa look set to see another departure occur before Friday’s transfer deadline as Aaron Tshibola is closing in on a return to Kilmarnock, The Scottish Sun reports.

What’s the word?

Steve Bruce has overseen a major rejuvenation at Aston Villa this summer and his business in the market is not yet complete, with another exit looking like before Friday’s European transfer deadline.

The Scottish Sun states 23-year-old Aaron Tshibola is set to return to Kilmarnock just two years after moving to Villa Park for a reported fee of £5m, as the midfielder has been deemed surplus to requirements in Bruce’s side.

Tshibola enjoyed a successful stint back at Kilmarnock on loan during the second half of last season and a return to the Scottish side seems likely, with the report adding that he has been training with the squad at Rugby Park recently.

Should he go?

Since signing for Aston Villa in 2016, Aaron Tshibola has struggled to make an impact with the Championship side after accumulating a total of just eight league appearances since – and spending time on loan with Kilmarnock, MK Dons and Nottingham Forest.

It is clear that the 23-year-old is not wanted by Bruce and a financial hit is likely with the departure of Tshibola as Villa are extremely unlikely to recoup the reported fee of £5m they paid to bring the midfielder to the club from Kilmarnock.

Despite that, Bruce must push for a deal to be completed before the end of the week as it would see another misfit offloaded from his squad – providing room for movement in the hunt for further additions when the January window opens.
