Aston Villa are poised to complete a move for Barcelona forward Louie Barry, as reported by The Athletic.

What's the story?

The deal for the 16-year-old, who only left West Bromwich Albion in the summer, could cost an initial £700,000 potentially rising to £3m.

Villa's rivals West Brom are said to be frustrated with the whole situation surrounding Barry's departure, with the minimal compensation fees still yet to be paid.

Prior to making his move to Barcelona, Barry scored four goals and three assists from 13 U18 Premier League games.

Seeing the player who came through the academy then potentially head to Villa Park has only added to their anger, but those close to Barry have insisted that the move to La Masia was not made with a diversion back to England in mind.

This is considered a dream move for the teenager though, as his dad supports Villa and runs a pub that is often visited by former players.

Roadblock for Vassilev

While this is an exciting move for Villa, this could be seen as a roadblock for Indiana Vassilev, who has been impressing for the club's U23s this campaign.

Villa fans were recently thrilled for the 18-year-old, as he came on for Marvelous Nakamba during the FA Cup loss against Fulham to make his first-team debut.

This comes during a season in which he has scored six goals in 13 Premier League 2 matches for the club, including a brace against Sunderland's youngsters on Monday.

Considering the progress the young American has made this campaign, to the point where he is getting a first-team chance at 18 years of age, seeing a move made for another attacking prospect could be viewed as a blow for him.

He will be hoping to continue his progress to the first-team, but considering the investment Villa are looking to make in Barry, Vassilev could be in for some serious competition.

Meanwhile, Villa fans reacted to reports linking them with a Premier League striker.
