Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has suggested that Aston Villa are likely to miss out on securing automatic promotion to the Premier League.
At the moment, Steve Bruce’s side sit fourth in the Championship, seven points adrift of the top two following back-to-back defeats.
The Midlands outfit were beaten 3-1 by Queens Park Rangers and then suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Bolton Wanderers prior to the international break.
Villa fans played the blame game following their defeat at the Macron Stadium, but they will be hoping for a positive reaction against Hull City this Saturday.
Bruce will take his team to the KCOM Stadium with the hope of getting back to winning ways, but they have not been hugely successful in recent meetings.
Earlier in the season, Villa were restricted to a 1-1 draw on home soil after Jarrod Bowen cancelled out Gabriel Agbonlahor’s early opener.
The last time the two clubs met at Hull’s ground was in February 2015 when the Tigers picked up a 2-0 triumph.
In his Sky Sports predictions, Prutton has backed a 2-2 draw and thinks that Villa’s automatic promotion hopes are over.
“Aston Villa suffered two desperate defeats in a row and it’s starting to look like automatic promotion may be beyond them. Score draw for me.”
