The January transfer window is now open, and Aston Villa boss Dean Smith will surely be keen to add to his squad this month. The Villans are very light on defensive cover at the back, and could yet lose Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham, which would surely necessitate a move for a new striker, especially if the club are serious about making a push for the play-offs.
The loss of Abraham, given that he is only at Villa Park on loan, would not raise any funds for the Midlands outfit. Any move to acquire a replacement then would probably have to be financed by further sales.

Surely the most valuable asset in Villa’s squad is attacking-midfielder Jack Grealish. The 23-year-old Villa academy product would likely attract plenty of Premier League interest if he were made available this month. Tottenham Hotspur would be a likely destination, given they were keen on his signature in the summer.
With a Transfermarkt valuation of £18 million, the No. 10’s exit could certainly fund the acquisition of the players that Villa desperately need.
However, the vast majority of the Villa faithful would much rather hang on to his services. Of those who took part in our poll, 75% voted in favour of turning any bids down and retaining Grealish. See the full results below.
