Back in March, England manager Gareth Southgate hinted that for Jack Grealish to make the England squad he'd need to be playing Premier League football.

Given the fact that Jack Butland has remained a regular in the squad despite playing for Stoke, those comments came over as particularly questionable.

However, following Aston Villa's promotion back to the top flight it may not be too long before we see him donning a Three Lions shirt.

In the wake of England's Nations League defeat to the Netherlands on Thursday night, Villa fans took to Twitter to assess what the 23-year-old could bring to the national side.

They all seemed to be in agreement over one thing; he'd improve the side. One supporter claimed he'd walk into the team whilst another said he'd make the rest of the squad look better.

A further individual claimed England's midfield was on struggle street and that Grealish needed to be playing. One tweeter meanwhile said he was light years ahead of Fabian Delph.

England were particularly poor in all areas of the pitch in midweek, particularly in defence. However, there was a lack of fluidity in midfield with Ross Barkley, Declan Rice and the aforementioned Delph all starting.

Here's the best of what Villa fans have been saying.
