According to The Daily Mail, Aston Villa are expected to make a bid for Nottingham Forest attacker Joe Lolley as they look to strengthen their squad following their promotion to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail report that the forward is at the top of Dean Smith's list for a spot on the right wing, although he could cost the Midlands club £10m should they want to prise him away from The City Ground.

The 26-year-old certainly enjoyed an impressive 2018/19 campaign for the Reds, scoring 11 goals and providing a further 11 assists in 46 Championship appearances.

Remarkably, one of those goals and four of those assists came in the incredible 5-5 draw at Villa Park in November, with the former Huddersfield Town man finding the net with a brilliant long-range strike as well as having a hand in the rest of his team's goals.

That evening was a clear sign of the quality that Lolley has in his locker, and the scout report from that encounter alone should have been enough to convince Villa to make their move.

The image above shows the impressive technique of the 26-year-old, who has proven himself to be a top, top player at this level.

Scoring brilliant goals at Villa Park may be something the home faithful need to get used to if a deal does materialise, before the summer transfer window closes prior to the start of the Premier League campaign in August.

Given the money Smith should have in his kitty following promotion, it may well be a smart move to spend a chunk of that on a player capable of producing moments of genius out of nothing.
