Aston Villa will have left St Mary’s disappointed, after losing 2-0 against Southampton due to goals from Shane Long and Stuart Armstrong.
There will also be frustration about the performance from Villa, who managed just one shot on target all game, while they also won nine fewer aerial duels than the Saints and four fewer tackles.
Dean Smith showed his discontent with the performance after the game, but his honesty did not help him in the eyes of Villa fans at all.
Dean Smith has arrived for his post-match press conference…
“We didn’t compete well enough and we didn’t show enough desire to get onto the ball. The thing that hurts the most is that there was a lack of fight and competitive edge.”#SOUAVL #AVFC pic.twitter.com/ycCdruNp9i

One fan stated that Villa should “give him his P45”, while another has suggested that he is “out of his league” in England’s top flight.
Watford’s loss against Manchester United means that they are still one point outside of the relegation zone following the defeat of their own.
However, this is not deemed to be good enough, with signs being that Villa fans want Smith out of the club as they bid to stay in the league.
Sorry Dean but u need to do something to sort this out. U need to motivate the team

Can’t keep blaming the players if you’re team ain’t set up to play or exploit the oppositions weakness you LOSE!! Dean Smith unfortunately at this level is out of his league. Time for a change and I know a man who wants to come back to premier league ex spurs manager?!?

The manager is not the only man to come under criticism though, as fans don’t feel that the players they have are “up to [the] standard required” for the Premier League.
It is suggested that the “recruitment has been awful” and the team are “mentally draining” to watch on a weekly basis.
Jack Grealish is one of the few players who escapes the scathing words of fans, with the talisman recording nine goals and six assists in all competitions this term.
Players don’t look fit enough, same nondescript tactics give ball to Jack then fingers crossed he can create something.
Guilbert/Hause/Nakamba/Luiz/ElGhazi/Trezuget/Hourihane/Samatta/Westley just not up to standard required for Premiership!

Recruitment has been awful. We should of gone for it be we played safe and hoped for the best. Unfortunately it’s highly likely it will relegate us.

Do the players realise the effect these performances have on fans? It’s mentality draining watching a team you have passion for go onto a pitch and look like they don’t even want to be there. It’s awful. These players get paid all this money and what do the fans see? Nothing
